Farmington's County Representative Gerald Murphy Votes "Yes" for 6% Property Tax Hike
November 2009 - Waupaca County Board voted recently to hike Waupaca County property taxes by 6% with Waupaca Chain O' Lakes Farmington County Representative Gerald Murphy voting "yes" while Chain area Dayton rep Bob Ellis voting "no."
In these difficult economic times, where many businesses are cutting workers and expenses and at a time when many employers are cutting their staffs work hours to save money, the $80.2 million County budget, which calls for a 6% property tax hike, passed by a 16 to 8 vote.
In an article in the Waupaca County Post Representative Murphy commented "he would vote for the budget in order to ensure that taxpayers get the services that they need and deserve”. In the same article, Representative Ellis thought was that this year's increase of the tax levy would not be a one-time event and would be repeated in the future.
